Years ago if you were lucky enough to own a car and wanted to experience the outdoor life you could buy a caravan or a simple box trailer in which to carry your heavy camping gear. The bits and pieces taken on holiday for 'fun' were simple and basic. Maybe a rug or deck chair to sit on outside if the weather allowed, and if you had kids, a bucket and spade, a bat and ball, and don't forget the kite! Now our 'wish list' for what we would like to be able to take is far more demanding. "Love to take an inflatable boat and outboard for fishing. Or maybe - mountain bikes for everyone - kayaks - climbing gear - surf boards - sun loungers - even a BBQ for cooking outside", the 'wish list' goes on. However, basic caravan design has not really changed over the years making it impossible to take much of the above within the unit, and even if you could get it in, the unit would certainly be well over the legal weight limit.

Now with the increase in vehicle road fund licences and the high cost of fuel, plus the desire not to add to global warming, our choices are simple: Either don't drive so far, or design a product that is far far more efficient, thus enabling us to travel the same distances with less fuel and less impact on the environment. We have chosen to address these problems with a product design that also offers new and exciting possibilities for the end user. One of the key points of the 'Multi Pod' design is the 'Inner trailer' and 'Outer ring storage' area, that allows all your food and equipment to be stowed leaving the 'Inner trailer' free from any gear: Introducing the Stimson 'Multi Pod'.

As the name suggests the 'Multi Pod' is a truly multi purpose unit, for work - sport - leisure and travel. It is a compact lightweight yet strong monocoque structure with excellent aerodynamics, making towing economical and comfortable. The 'Multi Pod' units range from the - 'Multi Pod Work Buddy' to the 'Multi Pod Sport' then to the 'Multi Pod Adventurer' with fully fitted galley unit - storage cupboards - slide out W.C plinth and lift out furniture. However to further tweak the Stimson 'Multi Pod' model to your particular requirements, components can be added or even taken off, allowing you complete flexibility to alter that 'fit out' if at any time your requirements change. The 'Multi Pod Work Buddy' is the model that is most suitable for work and leisure. The unit can be used for many commercial applications, for example, maybe a garden design and maintenance business. The unit could carry tools - lawnmowers yet still have lots of room for large shrubs/plants or fence panels etc. Or maybe to be used by a surf school to carry a number of surf boards. The 'Work Buddy' still has the 'Outer ring storage' area round the 8'x4' 'Inner trailer' and can be used for leisure and 'sleeping pod' if required, as in the other models, so can be transformed for 'fun' use in only minutes. The 'Work Buddy'is not headlinered and is in a durable gel coat or stipple finish.

The purchaser can add bits like a roof window for light and venting, or maybe dining seating and table. The 'Work Buddy' has a gas strut supported tail gate without the covered standing sunshade material and poles.

The 'Multi Pod Sport' is the model most likely to be used by those who are into sport/ leisure requiring a secure unit to carry or store gear and also have a dry lockable unit in which to sleep if required. The 'Sport' is fully headlinered including the 'Outer ring storage' area. There is one roof window fitted as standard. This provides light and venting but retains the secure look of the unit. The 'Sport' is fitted with covered standing sunshade area - poles and guylines. The 'Sport' has a free standing fold up table and fold up dining area seating with removable tailored seat cushions. The 'Sport' second table can be reduced in height and positioned at the rear of the unit for food preparation and cooking 'alfresco'. The 'Sport' is supplied with a single burner stove and washing up bowl and 10 ltr water container. The 'Sport' comes with one double air mattress and electric air pump. Simply plug into your cigarette lighter point. Or two single self inflating mattresses that are simply placed within the inner lined trailer unit leaving the 'Outer ring storage' areas accessible. Stove and worktop is able to be used at all times, with standing headroom, great for that morning 'cuppa' even before venturing out into the world first thing in the morning. The 'Multi Pod Adventurer' is the model most likely to be chosen by those wishing to travel with a unit that is only a fraction of the weight of a conventional caravan, but with heaps of space for goodies, like sunbeds - bikes - or whatever. The 'Adventurer'can also be used for a 'pit stop' en-route and to stretch your legs at the same time. Simply lift the covered tailgate and use the 'alfresco' equipment and cupboards set at the back of the unit. When on site the unit can be arranged in a number of different ways to suit your requirements. The lift out transverse galley and storage units incorporate the two burner hob, slide out W.C plinth - water tank - water pump - gas bottle storage - food cupboard - and cool box area. The generous worktop area and sink is in colour impregnated textured gel coat finish with moulded retaining lip all round. There are two opening windows fitted as standard. With the self erecting (yes self erecting) free standing tent/ awning, a spare room is created for extra sleeping area or 'goodies' storage area. Please see (alternative options and extras) . We don't imagine for one moment, or is it intended, that the 'Adventurer'will in anyway make conventional caravan manufacturers anxious, or existing caravanner's rush to sell their vans in order to buy an 'Adventurer'.It is for those who really want to create more possibilities from a unit. Try taking a caravan, however big, with Aunty Flo and her electric buggy, plus your bike out to somewhere new and different for a day. Try moving your daughter's furniture to her new flat, or picking up that D.I.Y material, even 8'x4' sheeting. A caravan is simply a caravan but the 'Multi Pod' range is for multi use when required. The 'Multi Pod' furniture can be completely removed in only minutes to create a secure covered cargo carrier if required. Maybe for carrying multiples of Surf boards - mountain bikes - trial bikes - surf kayaks - kite trikes - whatever. If however you intend using the 'Multi Pod' as accommodation at the same time as a cargo carrier for your equipment such as surf boards - mountain bikes - etc. This can be achieved by simply folding flat the dining seating and furniture to create generous storage space. To create more accommodation space, large items such as kayaks - mountain bikes can be secured outside the unit when you are at your site or sporting venue.

The 'Multi Pod' has been designed to offer many options at a competitive price. It is also low maintenance colour impregnated G.R.P. (Arctic white) bonded to an inner galvanised steel trailer to create a strong yet lightweight monocoque unit.

If you're looking for real economy the 'Multi Pod' can be towed by even the most modest engined tow car, because of its lightweight and aerodynamic shape. The 'Multi Pod' is under 2mtrs high making height barriers and motorway tolls in France not a problem. The 'Multi Pod' is also no wider than the average car making downside rear visibility excellent.
